Menu Making Monday and Good News!

Good news first!

My back feels sooo much better! It's not quite back to normal yet but it's close. Very, very close! Thank goodness! I quit taking the pain medicine today and just have a slight ache when I twist. Someone mentioned to me this weekend that it might be my sciatic nerve (?) I hadn't considered that before.

My scrapping weekend was fun, but I left early Sunday morning so I had time to get showered and ready and then make it to church on time. That means I had from about 7pm Friday until I went to bed Saturday night to "work" on my stuff. I was still taking the pain medicine on Friday and Saturday so I just didn't feel like myself and didn't get much done. I had a good time hanging out and catching up with my girlfriend, so if nothing else, that was really nice! We have another scrapping weekend planned in March and I hope to accomplish more than 4 digital scrapbook pages next month.

Here is this week's weigh-in report:
Starting Weight: 250.2
Last Weigh-in: 191.6
Today's Weigh-in: 186.6
Difference: -5.0
Total Weight Loss: 63.6

Sooo, I don't even know how that happened! Well, really I felt like my loss last week should have been more than it was, but it happened to be that time of the month and my loss was small (-0.6). Maybe that's the deal. But geesh, that's a big loss! I haven't had a big loss like that in a long time! My last big loss was the first week of November and it was -5.2. Then I jumped up and down all through November, December and January. I just hope I don't repeat that pattern after this big loss...

I do want to say that even though I wasn't able to exercise, last week was one of those weeks where it just felt easy to make good food choices. I didn't go over my calories even one day. As a matter of fact, a few days I was under by around 100 calories. Planning certainly helps, but I do that most every week anyway. This week, it all just seemed to fall into place without an issue. I have a lot of thoughts on that subject, but I think I'll save that for another post on another day. ;)

Did everyone watch the Superbowl last night? I'm not a football fan (show me a basketball game any day) and neither of the teams playing were teams the rest of my football loving family cares about. To sum it up, I really had no concern on who would win this game. I did think it was cool that brothers were coaching against each other. As we were watching the game, just after half time, I told my husband that the next family gathering around the dinner table might be a little awkward for the Harboughs! And then we were laughing at all the little jokes that one brother would make to another with the constant teasing, sibling bickering .... Ha! And then I saw this picture on Facebook and was cracking up!

What were your favorite commercials last night?

They weren't all that great, were they?! My favorites would probably be the M&M commercial and the Taco Bell commercial. Oh, and the farmer Dodge commercial got me. Being from a rural community and surrounded by farmers and blue collar workers, that one really got to me! :) And the Jeep military commercial. Well, who wouldn't love that message?! And this next one got a lot of love in my Facebook newsfeed from friends and family, but I didn't like the Clydelsdale commercial that much. Maybe I missed the point, but my thought was, "If you loved the horse so much, why in the heck did you get rid of it?! For money?!" It just irritated me. haha I think I must be the only person in the world that saw it that way! ;)

Here are my favorites in video, just in case you missed them (or want to see them again!):

Although, I think the song should have been in English. Let's face it,
most people watching only speak English and if you don't
know the meaning of lyrics that go with the song, the song is
kind of lost. The whole message of that song is
"We are young..." and if you don't know that's what
the song says, the point of that song is lost.
Meh, I know, I'm being cynical again! :)

This one ran a tiny bit too long, but I loved the message. Loved it.

Another one that was just too long, but man... powerful.

I have to add one more.. this one wasn't really a favorite
and I didn't find it all that funny, but at the end, I realized
I was genuinely smiling. :) I like when I find myself
feeling happy without really having a reason. :)

Worst commercial of the night?

My opinion: The Go Daddy kiss commercial. It was so disgusting I'm not even
to put a video of that garbage on my blog. Bleck.
The close up shot of their mouths.
The noises.
Disgusting.

  1. congrats on the loss!!

Thanks for posting the commercials.. I was going to google them today as we don't get all the good commercials here in Canada.. only some unfortunately. I love that the M&M one used Meatloaf. Their commercial last year was great too.
The dodge commercial was excellent.. They must of spent a fortune on a 2 minute commercial though!

  3. Congratulations on the loss this week!! I'm glad your back is feeling better!

I am not a football fan. I have read a lot of negative comments about the GoDaddy commercial - glad I missed that. :)
